ABOUT THE MAKER

Minimalist metal gets a chic upgrade with Koch and Lowy lighting. Founded in 1946 by Ernst Lowy, Koch and Lowy spent almost fifty years creating simple, forward-thinking lamps rendered in shiny, eye-catching metals. When most people think Koch and Lowy, they think Koch and Lowy floor lamps, which the brand delved out in droves during the 60s and 70s. Among the brand’s most iconic floor lamps is a their pharmacy “tent” lamp modeled after an old Cedric Hartman imitation found on a sourcing trip in Italy. But Koch and Lowy floor lamps aren’t the only areas the company excelled. Koch and Lowy also produced some of the Mid 20th Century’s most iconic table lamps. For instance? The Half Nelson Lamp designed by George Nelson. With its metal saucer shade and can-light base, the Half Nelson lamp still feels miles ahead of the curve even today. And let’s not forget to pay homage to Koch and Lowy’s box can light lamps, sconces, and chandeliers. Crafted of brass, these boxy creations feel one-part Mid-Century Modern, one part Brutalist masterpiece!
