Original signed and dated artwork by prolific mid/century New York artist Byron Browne. Executed in conte crayon on paper and professionally matted and framed. Known as a “rough” Expressionist of his time, Browne was a central figure in many of the artistic and political groups emerging throughout the 1930s. He was a founding member of the American Abstract Artist group and later taught advanced painting at New York University. This piece is cataloged as part of the mid-late period of his oeuvre and a recognizably substantial and collectible piece.
